Avatamsaka Sutra

The Avatamsaka Sutra, also referred to as Flower Adornment Sutra, is one of the most influential scripture in Chinese Buddhism history. It is the King of Kings of all Buddhist scriptures. 在佛所說的一代時教裏邊，《華嚴經》是最大的。以前在唐朝貞觀年間，唐太宗問玄奘法師說：「佛所說的經典，哪一部是最大的？」因為唐太宗想要念經，但是他想要念一部大經，不願意念小經，所以問玄奘法師。玄奘法師就對他說：「《華嚴經》是最大的。」那時候的《華嚴經》是晉譯本六十卷，以後實叉難陀法師翻譯的，加上二十卷，總共八十卷。

唐太宗說：「你說《華嚴經》最大，《大般若經》有六百卷，《華嚴經》僅僅只有六十卷，怎麼說它是最大的呢？」玄奘法師回答說：「《華嚴經》一門能開無量門，重重無盡，這個法是不可思議的。至於《大般若經》只是《華嚴經》其中的一門」所以當時唐太宗，他就專門念這部《華嚴經》。～宣公禪師
